Winterize Your Skin

Posted

Winterize Your Skin.

Old Man Winter has reared his ugly head and Spring is no where in sight. In the meantime, we must prepare our skin to survive the harsh winter.

Exfoliate. Exfoliating removes dead cells from your skin. As your skin dries out, dead skin cells stop shedding, keeping moisturizer from fully sinking in. Accelerate the process by using a gentle exfoliant, like Naturally Me’s Sea Salt Body Scrub.

Moisturize. Many of us need richer moisturizers during the winter. When shopping around, look for the ingredients like aloe or shea butter. Aloe is a humectant that helps pull moisture from the air into your skin and shea butter is filled with natural vitamins. Naturally Me’s All Over Butter contains both aloe butter and shea butter. Apply All Over Butter heavily at night to help combat your winter dry skin.

Hydrate from the inside out. For those living with dry skin and eczema, it is extremely important to stay properly hydrated. Drink lots of water. Staying hydrated helps the skin to retain moisture better.

If the idea of drinking water sounds boring to you, make it fun. Create your own flavored water by adding your favorite fruit to it. This is a great way to flavor the water naturally without the unwanted sweeteners and chemicals.

Invest in a humidifier. Cool mist humidifiers add moisture in the air. The small tabletop models are ideal for bedrooms. Be sure to fill them with cold water to prevent bacteria from growing inside.
